Maria Satira is a multimedia and marketing professional with more than a decade of experience in journalism, public relations, and corporate communications. She spent nearly 10 years as a news anchor and reporter in television markets along the East Coast – working for ABC, CBS, and CW affiliates. She later became the director of marketing and communications at an economic development organization and also founded Maria Satira Media, LLC. This media relations and marketing consulting company focuses on assisting small businesses and not-for-profit organizations achieve their digital marketing and communications goals. As the author of “An Introduction to Media Relations for Nonprofit Organizations,” community involvement is of the utmost importance to Maria. She volunteers with various committees and boards to support local nonprofit organizations including the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina, Pitt County Arts Council at EMERGE, Better Business Bureau Serving Eastern North Carolina, and Riley’s Army, Inc. She also works with several marketing-based committees for organizations in eastern North Carolina. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Maria holds a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Media Arts and Communication from Robert Morris University. Through her involvement and support as an alumnus, she has been named to the university’s President’s Council. Maria lives in Greenville with her husband, Andrew, and their two dogs, Badger and Yogi. The couple also owns and manages a property management company and a construction company where they purchase, renovate, and rent properties in the downtown area. In addition to volunteering in their community, they enjoy traveling, spending time at the beach, and treasuring every moment with family and friends.
