Marie Letourneau was born December 15, 1969 in New York City - a fifth generation New Yorker. The youngest child of Alfred & Marianne Girardi, Marie’s parents moved her and her sister, Michelle, to Long Island when they were in first grade. She grew up on the water in Babylon Village - a little town with beautiful beaches. Her father was in the fish business and an avid angler. Her mother worked for the telephone company. Marie has been interested in illustrating and writing picture books for as far back as she can remember. As a child, she would make little books out of paper and staples to give to family members. Marie studied fine arts and writing at Hoftsra University's New College earning her BFA. In 2006, her first picture book as author and illustrator, “The Mice of Bistrot des Sept Freres" won ForeWord Magazine's Indie Book of the Year Bronze Medal. Marie has five books with Tanglewood Publishing. She loves coffee, picture books, the beach, 70’s music, animals, Star Wars, Gene Kelly movies, cooking and roller skating.
