Marjorie Bradford (1922-2016) was born in Albany, Georgia and raised in Uniontown, Alabama. She attended the Alabama College for Women, and the South Highlands Infirmary School of Nursing in Birmingham. She was energetic and creative mother to her five children, and used the characters in this original story to teach them to count. She filled her children's days with fun and learning, and every trip to the grocery store became an adventure. Marjorie and her husband, the late George T. Bradford, MD, settled in Montgomery, Alabama, and reared a brood of four boisterous boys and one girl, all of whom graduated from the University of Alabama, and went on to successful and rewarding careers, which can be traced back to their mother's cheerful teaching methods when they were young.
