Mark Burgess has been working as a writer and artist of children's books for the last twenty years. He also works as a computer programmer, and designs web sites, animations and special warm places for his cat to sleep. Mark went to school at Christ's Hospital in Sussex, England where the uniform was designed in the sixteenth century, the beds were made of iron and everyone marched to breakfast each morning. After leaving school he studied Fine Art at the Slade School in London. He then worked for a short time at London Zoo and in a library in Cambridge before starting to write and illustrate full-time. Mark lives in the south-west of England with his wife and cat. When he's not working he loves reading, gardening and walking in the woods near his house.
