How does a Middle Georgia boy who spent his youth riding dirt roads with his friends grow up to write a book about Key West? He chased a dream fostered by his father, James, who spent many childhood summers of the 1950s in the Florida Keys. "I grew up hearing stories from my dad about the Keys and how great they were," said Mark Lee, author of "The Ultimate Key West Bar Guide". "In my mind, I could see the tall palm trees and crystal clear waters." Tales of fishing trips and catching big tarpon piqued Mark's interest. As an adult, he decided to venture south to explore this glorious paradise for himself. The chemist-turned-realtor first traveled to Key West in 1999. Joined by his wife, Stacye, the two embarked on a driving tour of the Keys. By the time the couple made a second trip more than 15 years later, Mark was working as a nurse and had four daughters. With volumes of ideas, Mark finally began working on his first book. Two years later, "The Ultimate Key West Bar Guide" was published. Much more than a book about drink specials, "The Ultimate Key West Bar Guide" takes readers along the paths of Jimmy Buffett, Ernest Hemingway, and Tennessee Williams. The book also gives readers insight into accommodations, transportation, and the best place to find breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. You can find all of Mark's Key West and Savannah/Tybee Beach books on Amazon.com in print and Kindle format. Look for his newest book on Charleston, South Carolina coming out in the Summer of 2023. He's constantly searching for new places to go and write about! Feel free to reach out to him at keylimepress@gmail.com if you have any questions. Good luck and good travels.
