Mark Perna enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2004 and served with 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines in Kunar Province, Afghanistan from 2005 to 2006, and the Haditha Triad, Iraq, from 2006 to 2007. After leaving the military in 2008 he learned how to write at the University of Colorado at Denver. He currently works as a digital marketer and lives in Elizabeth, Colorado with his wife and three sons.
