关于作者

Born and raised in Germany, educated in the US, and now based at the University of Toronto, I've published books on the deep fault lines that run through modern criminal law and policing (The Dual Penal State), the patriarchal origins of the power to police (The Police Power), the meaning and significance of the sense of justice (The Sense of Justice), the role of victims' rights in the war on crime (Victims in the War on Crime), and the ethics of artificial intelligence (Oxford Handbook of Ethics of AI), along with studies, collections, and textbooks on a wide range of topics, primarily in the law, history, and theory of crime and punishment. My work has appeared in English and German, and has been translated into Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Italian, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, and Spanish. I once appeared on Penelope von Schnitzel's YouTube show "What in the World Do You Do?"
