Mary Ethel Eckard was born in Flint, Michigan and grew up in York, South Carolina. She currently resides in Frisco, Texas. Her first book, "The Making of a Dragonfly", is the recipient of the prestigious 2019 Next Generation Indie Awards, Christian Non-Fiction category. It is also a Finalist in the 2019 International Book Awards, Spirituality: Inspirational Category, and a Christian Literary Award, 2018 Henri Award Nominee in the Christian: Motivational Category. The book was written as an encouragement to those who have been through brokenness, suffered loss, and believed themselves to be disposable and without purpose. Her story chronicles the faithfulness of God in directing her steps through the storms of life to safety where she found purpose, passion, and joy. The Second edition, released in 2019, includes customized questions at the end of each chapter to help the reader reflect on life situations and glean wisdom from Mary's story. Mary's second book, "Lessons of a Dragonfly, Forty Days to a Transformed Life", is a devotional to help readers draw near to God. The book contains stories of how God's Words and ways transform our lives when we walk in obedience to Him. This book is a Christian Literary Awards 2019 Henri Award Recipient. Mary is the co-founder of Dragonfly Ministries, a non-profit ministry that encourages spiritual growth by learning to recognize God's voice and obey His promptings.
