Mary Novakovich

Mary Novakovich is an award-winning freelance journalist and travel writer based in Hertfordshire, UK. Since 1999, she has been focusing on travel writing and contributes regularly to publications including the Guardian, Telegraph, Independent, Times, Evening Standard, CNN Travel, Wanderlust and many others. She also broadcasts radio reports for the BBC’s From Our Own Correspondent. She has written extensively about the countries of the former Yugoslavia, in particular Croatia and Serbia, as well as France and Italy. In addition to several guidebooks to Croatia and France, she has written a travelogue/memoir, My Family and Other Enemies: Life and Travels in Croatia's Hinterland, which was published in August 2022 by Bradt. It won the 2023 British Guild of Travel Writers Adele Evans Award and was shortlisted for the 2023 Edward Stanford Travel Book of the Year.
