Mary S. Frederick

关于作者

Mary Frederick is the author of nine books; six mysteries, two cat books, and a guide for editing a novel. Before retiring, she was an English teacher, and then worked for many years as a technical writer and editor for a major software company. Mary lives in Arizona with her husband and orange tabby Saffron (also known as Kitty 3). Kitty 3's predecessor, Kitty 2, helped Mary author her book The Cat's in Charge!, and her trip across the country was portrayed in the book Kitty in the Car. Kitty 2 passed over the Rainbow Bridge in 2018, but she is still present in spirit in the Frederick household, greatly loved by all who knew her. Mary's mysteries provide examples of the inverted detective mystery. In this type of mystery, the crime occurs at the beginning of the book, and the detective tracks down the perpetrator and reveals him or her in the end. In Mary’s books, there is a twist. The crime is murder, but it has yet to be committed. The reader knows what the criminal intends, and is present as the amateur investigator figures out the would-be murderer’s plans and tries to stop him. These books are cat and mouse contests between cold-blooded killers and their determined foes, amateur investigators with clever brains, some young, some old, and in later books, two that are not even human—Cindy the cat and Wally the dog.
