My first car was a 1966 Dodge Dart - in 1996. I'd wanted something interesting that didn't cost too much money, only to find that to keep an interesting and cheap car on the road can take a lot of work. Not only did I learn a lot about wrenching from that car, but a project at converting it to fuel injection landed me an engineering job with DIYAutoTune.com, an aftermarket engine electronics firm. That job led directly to writing my first book, Performance Fuel Injection Systems, along with my co-author Jerry Hoffmann. A lot of the book was inspired by questions I've often heard customers ask and by experience with straightening out installations gone wrong. I also do freelance writing for automotive magazines and websites, such as Grassroots Motorsports and Miata Journal. My own taste in books can be all over the map, although mysteries and high fantasy are two genres I read often. Some of my favorite authors include Tom Clancy's earlier works, C.S. Lewis (both his fiction and nonfiction), and Flannery O'Connor.
