Maura McEvoy

My career as an "author" really began with my career as a photographer. I have had a love for my adopted state of Maine my entire life and back in 2017 had the proverbial lightning bolt strike leading to my quest to photograph authentic Maine homes as I sadly witnessed their demise due to rampant development and a coastline that was becoming only for the wealthy. I have had a long career with interior photography, beginning out of college with Metropolitan Home magazine as an assistant editor, opening my eyes to the magic that is interior design. I then became a freelance photo stylist, working for a decade with some of the most prestigious photographers in the interiors field, learning at their side the craft of camera work. The year my daughter was born was also the year my own photography career took off....did I think life was going to be easy? I welcomed both challenges with the energy of one who realized both were gifts in my life. I love my daughter and I love photography! My photo career took me around the world as I excelled at combining travel, food and interiors. I've done stories across the globe...Italy, England, India, Laos, Cambodia, Brazil, Uruguay, China, Nepal, Tunisia, the Caribbean, Germany, France, Uzbekistan, Tibet, Tanzania, Kenya, New Zealand, Morocco, Mexico...and across the US. I tapped into all that experiential energy to publish my first authored book, The Maine House, in 2021 always desiring to not only take a pretty picture but to also tell its story. I had help. My co-authors Kathleen Hackett and Basha Burwell were with me through it all and we now have The Maine House ll publishing in 2024, both books by Vendome Press.
