Meegan is an event professional and sustainability advisor who provides strategy and solutions for live events and productions. She is GSP’s technical lead and is responsible for content development of our training courses, guides and resources. She has delivered event sustainability training in a face-to-face environment to over 1000 event professionals, and presents live online training in event sustainability with the International Society of Sustainability Professionals. She has given numerous presentations on ISO 20121 in Australia, including an industry roadshow and at event industry conferences. Meegan was Head of Delegation for Australia’s contribution to the development of ISO 20121 and was pivotal in engaging Standards Australia to upgrade to a participating body and adoption of ISO 20121 as an Australian Standard. She sat on the working group for Global Reporting Initiative’s event industry sector supplement as a technical expert, and was project consultant for the UNEP Music & Environment Initiative. She is chair of the Sustainable Event Alliance and author of ‘Sustainable Event Management: A Practical Guide’, published by Earthscan. The second edition of the book, released in May 2014, includes a new chapter dedicated to implementing ISO 20121. Meegan has also authored guides and articles on ISO 20121 and event sustainability topics, include regular contributor on Sustainability to the International Festivals and Events Association. Meegan’s UK credits include being the Sustainability Co-ordinator for Reading, Leeds, Latitude & Glastonbury Festivals. Her non-UK credits include Global Greening Director for Live Earth (2010), and sustainability advisor for Live Earth India and the London Marathon. In 2014 she was technical lead for GSP’s engagement in developing the Sustainability Strategy for the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee for FIFA World Cup.
