Whether she is working on a screenplay, a novel, or a children's book, Melissa Blizzard understands that every word in every sentence is a building block to help create a better world. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education, she pursued a Master of Fine Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. She then spent a year teaching and working closely with students before beginning to delve into the world of children's book writing. When Melissa Blizzard began writing children's books, she understood that children needed positive role models and peers they could identify with and relate to. She believed that children wanted goals to aspire to, people who would believe in their potential, and new experiences to learn from. Perhaps this is why the characters in each of her books has become such dynamic personalities. With each character in each book, she provided lines of story that would allow children to openly engage in new dialogue with peers, teachers, community members, and family.
