Chef Michael Bennett attended three years of college then transferred to the Culinary Institute of America to pursue his true passion. After leaving the CIA, for most of the next 11 years, Michael's life revolved around intense periods of kitchen management followed by months of O.J.T. under the tutelage from Miami's most well known chefs. During this time he sought out the most exotic and chic dining environments. Michael was fortunate enough to have catered to nearly all of South Florida's well known clientele. Michael's first premiere chef posts was the Left Bank restaurant, a 26 year South Florida culinary landmark. They recruited Michael to be its Executive Chef in 1999. The restaurant saw critical acclaim under chef Michael's watch, earning rave reviews and accolades from the media. The restaurant received a it's first Four Star AAA award, Mobil award in 2001 and Wine Spectator's Grand Award of Excellence, also in 2002. In 2006, Michael exodus his family 1600 miles away to the Caribbean, re-positioning himself in the West Indies to broaden his subsist vibe for the food he loves. After years of investigating the region's culinary attributes, he has returned to his home in the tropical climes of South Florida to pen two cookbooks. As the author of the "In the Land of Misfits, Pirates and Cooks"(2009) which starts his journey of creating four Caribbean themed recipe books through this years of tropical cookery edification. The second book project is a culinary-story book named; "Underneath a Cloudless Sky", a South Florida cookbook that is filled with authentic stories of how South Florida's tropical gastronomy became legendary. Chef Michael Bennett's status and culinary posts have been highlighted in publications that include; the New York Times, Ocean Drive magazine, Cooking Light magazine, Travel and Leisure magazine, National Culinary Review (cover feature), Zagat Review ("best of"), as well as many other local newspaper features. He has appeared on television cooking segments including The Today Show-South Florida, among others.
