Michael Betcherman is an author and screenwriter living in Toronto. He has written three hightly-acclaimed young adult novels: BREAKAWAY, which was shortlisted for the John Spray Mystery Award, FACE-OFF, which was shortlisted for the Arthur Ellis Mystery Award and THE JUSTICE PROJECT, which was a finalist for the Shining Willow Award. Michael is also the writer/creator of THE DAUGHTERS OF FREYA and SUZANNE, two novels written in the form of emails exchanged among the characters which, when originally distributed, introduced a new way to publish on the Internet. Readers subscribed online and then received a few emails a day over a three week period, as if they were being bcc:d on the emails the characters were sending each other. This unique form of storytelling was highly praised by numerous publications, including the Globe & Mail, the U.K. Guardian and the Philadelphia Inquirer. Michael is also an award-winning screenwriter with numerous credits in both dramatic and documentary television. In previous incarnations, he was an entertainment lawyer, and before that he was a professional basketball player in Israel.
