Michael Deeze retired as a physician after 35 years in private practice. His life experiences are numerous and he held many occupations before pursuing a health care education and career. In his storied life has has visited every state in the Union and worked on 5 of the 7 continents of the world. From shoveling manure to delivering babies he has many life stories. Honing his skills as a public speaker while he served as a professor and administrator for a major university, Michael Deeze is an excellent story teller. Michael Deeze began his life on the mean streets of inner-city Chicago. His father was one of the tens of thousands returning WWII heroes that took work where they could find it and there were a lot of men needing work. He took his young wife to Chicago where he could go to school and work two jobs. Deeze was born in the inner city of Chicago in the early 1950's, where his first years were spent in a one room windowless apartment that he shared with his parents and older sister. Later as the original projects were constructed, they moved into a two-bedroom 7th floor apartment in the notorious Maplewood Commons. The projects were a colliding cauldron of ethnic and racial diversity that required urban adaptation and toughness of both mind and fist to get along. With each move that his family made, Deeze brought his street smarts and learned how to become a chameleon depending on the situations he was thrown into, street-wise and tough. As a young man, Deeze served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and learned about the adjustments that were necessary when he came home. he soon learned to being functional and having aspirations were two different things, and his young adult years he drifted from the military from one occupation to another without ever becoming an adult. In his mid-thirties, a respected mentor appeared and helped him discover his own underlying desire - to help others. he attended school ultimately earning his doctorate degrees. Now, with 3 grown children and his grandchildren, he spends his favorite time riding his motorcycle, and walking the woods with his beloved dog, Timber In his books, Deeze combines his multi-hued experiences with his clever story telling skills to bring the Casey clan to life.
