Dr Michael Edward Heffron

关于作者

The author grew up in a small town in Michigan during the mid-1900s. According to his wife, he is not the kind of doctor who does anyone any good. She once called him over to her computer to look at an email. She said “Look here, I can buy the same degree you have, and you wasted all of those years in school. Are you sure you’re smart enough to be a doctor?” Her question has no easy answer! A decade before becoming a Doctor of Computer Science, Michael Heffron invented U.S. Patent 5,113,832 (Method for Air Density Compensation of Internal Combustion Engines). That invention, more than any other single event in his life, taught him that the majority opinion (even of professionals) is often wrong and tends to stifle the advancement of knowledge. To thrive, we need a free and open society where it is permissible to ask questions, discuss ideas without ridicule, and where we think things through for ourselves. We must also be perpetually aware of the flaws in what we think we know!
