Michael J. Altman

Michael J. Altman is Associate Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Alabama. For Altman, religion is one of the ways people understand who is "us" and who is "them." This basic function of religion has guided his writing about a range of topics from Hinduism in the United States to religion in film to American evangelicalism. His next book project is an experimental and theoretical investigation at the intersection of religious studies and professional wrestling.
