Michael Stewart

Michael Stewart is a professional trumpeter, composer, and arranger in the Chicago area. He regularly performs in a variety of musical settings from jazz big band to classical brass quintet and writes and arranges music for many of these same ensembles. He holds degrees in jazz studies (BA - University of Akron), trumpet performance (MA - Eastern Illinois University), and composition (DMA - University of South Carolina). He currently leads his own jazz big band, small jazz group, and brass quintet, and is the former director of the Chicago Brass Choir. When not engaged with his wife or young daughter, or a horn is not stuck to his face, he can be found rolling cigars, hiking in the woods, or golfing.
