"Darwin and Faulkner's Novels: Evolution and Southern Fiction" (Palgrave Macmillan), Michael Wainwright's first monograph, was a Choice Review of Books Outstanding Academic Title for 2009. "Literature, Parasitism, and Science" (Cambridge Scholars), his eighth monograph, comes out in July 2022. Twice winner of the Faulkner Conference "Call for Papers," his other publications include articles for the Mississippi Quarterly, Papers on Language and Literature, English Literature in Transition, 1880-1920, Criticism, Brief Chronicles (forthcoming) and Mosaic (forthcoming). He has taught American literature at Royal Holloway, University of London, literary theory, American literature, and European modernism at Lancaster University, the Beats at the University of Birmingham, and postwar American literature at Staffordshire University. His ongoing creative projects are two stage plays: Floundering Ascent, which considers the personal and professional life of the music hall and film comedian Will Hay, and a drama about Field-Marshall Sir Claude Auchinleck at the time of the INA Trials.
