Mika Mayen

Originally from Indonesia, Mika Mayen is a children’s book author. She is also a full-time interior designer in Toronto, Canada, where she lives with her husband, Erick, a five-year-old son, Hendrick, and their Maine-Coon cat, Don Julio. As a designer, she specializes in restaurant and retail design and freelances as a food photographer. These bring together some of her greatest loves; art, design, and food! As for other passions, she and her husband love to cook, garden and travel in their leisure time. Of course, this all flows nicely into their love of entertaining friends and family, which they tend to prepare for by watching copious hours of food shows on TV! She spends her free time daydreaming and coming up with ideas, scenarios and stories. Her books are designed to delight and, in the case of children’s literature, to reassure and entertain. Crafting and creating character and plot is her real passion, and she hopes all who read the fruits of her daydreaming find themselves very engaged.
