Mike Kirby

I am an aspiring writer, a long distance cyclist, a runner and an entrepreneur. I live in Oxfordshire with a partner Helen and our spaniel called Lola who is always pleased to see me, no matter how long I have been out riding my bike. I was born and brought up on a Yorkshire farm, the subject of my first book, called My Father and other Animals. Motion and Emotion is my first book on cycling, a sport I love with a passion and the subject of most of my writing. After completing the 2400 km long Pan Celtic Ultra Race in July 2024, I wrote about my preparation and the race and its aftermath in my new book Do not Hurry, Do not Rest. I also write a weekly piece as The Cycle Scribe on SubStack where I focus mainly on the health and wellness benefits of riding a bike and how it might even help you live well for longer.
