Nelda Hirsh is an author and publisher. She founded Green Rock Books in 2010. Distributed by Itasca Books, Green Rock Books is a Colorado based company publishing historical fiction, art books, and social history. Nelda is the author of the historical novel JULIA DU VAL and A BOHEMIAN LIFE, a biography and art history book about the American Impressionist painter Evelyn McCormick. Hirsh's last book, ROYAL HUGUENOT is an historical novel about Henry IV of France and the five most important women in his life. Although a favorite king in France, little is known about him in America — even though he ended the religious civil wars between Catholics and Protestants in Europe and was centuries ahead of his time in his thinking about religious tolerance. Her next novel, AMERICAN TRIANGLE, will be published in October 2018. This book focuses on the relationships among Thomas Jefferson, his daughter, Patsy Jefferson Randolph, and his concubine, Sally Hemings. Ms. Hirsh was a fellow at the Monticello Foundation in Monticello, VA, and the novel adheres closely to the facts of Jefferson's life and times, while revealing the complicated ties between the two women against the background of slavery and the early political development of the nation. Nelda and her husband share their time between New York City and Boulder, Colorado. For more information, please visit the Green Rock Books website.
