Nia J. Rivers is a retired professor of African American Studies and literature. She is also a life coach and focuses on inspirational and spiritual teachings to women who aspire to live happy and healthy lives. Nia has traveled the world through speaking engagements on racial diversity, media literacy, and empowerment for black women everywhere. She continues to enlighten and educate wherever she goes. Currently, she hosts a weekly workshop for black women over fifty in her home state of Michigan. Nia is a prolific writer and poet and has dedicated her life to the betterment of black women. She is a firm believer that black women and women of color are the lifeblood of the nation and has a vested interest in preserving the rich culture that comes with African American women. Nia is happily married to her husband, poet and filmmaker David Rivers. She is also the mother of three beautiful children, as well as a grandmother to five grandchildren. In her spare time, Nia enjoys writing fiction, practicing Yoga and meditation, and performing poetry with her husband David at her local coffee shop. They also have three dogs and resides in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
