I have been living and working in Cambodia since 2010. l am an explorer of social history and use photography as a tool for storytelling for over thirty-five years. I initially studied stage design at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Australia, before moving into exhibition design for the Historic Houses Trust, and then museum planning at the Powerhouse Museum in the 1980s. During the flush of Australia’s Bicentennial celebrations, I worked and consulted for many Australian museums, from small country places to national institutions. Since 1992, I have been living in Malaysia, then Singapore, consulting on major regional projects – both commercial and government funded, as well as consulting in New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, China, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, and Qatar. In 2016, with help from Jon de Rule and many talented Cambodian friends, we created the acclaimed live performance ‘SNAP! 150 Years of Photography in Cambodia’ at Bambu Stage, Siem Reap. My book is loosely based on that experience.
