Nick van der Leek is a widely-published investigative photojournalist and bestselling author. He is one of the most prolific authors in the world with an expertise in true crime. Nick has interrogated in meticulous detail some of the biggest, most complex and high profile “unsolved” cold cases in America, Britain, France and South Africa. His investigative research covers a wide range: from Dutch art history to doping in professional cycling, from analyzing high-profile disasters such as the '96 Everest tragedy, to profiling mass murderers. In 2017 his research formed the basis for an American made-for-television true crime film. In June 2018 Nick's first fiction book, a futuristic fantasy epic, was published by GENZ, a publisher based in New Jersey, USA. In 2018 the Van Gogh library in Nuenen, the Netherlands, requested a signed copy of The Murder of Vincent van Gogh. The University of Cape Town Special Collections Library also made the same request in the same year. With a background in law, economics and marketing, and after a brief 'career' in triathlon and mountain climbing, today Nick is one of South Africa's most talented freelancers. Between 2005 and 2015 he regularly produced features for GQ, Getaway, Explore, Ironman, Tour de France Magazine, Fitness, Financial Mail, Finweek, Bicycling, Brainstorm and many others. Nick has a diverse portfolio of magazine work, including a series of long form articles over seven years for Country Life. He's also conducted one-on-one interviews with a range of personalities from CEOs and beauty queens to Olympians and world champions. He has interviewed Morgan Freeman, Ueli Steck, Gary Taubes, Gavin Hood, Chris Froome, Daryl Impey, Tyler Hamilton, Lewis Pugh, Chad and Bert le Clos, Richard Murray, Roland Schoeman, Professor Tim Noakes, Herman Zapp, Mannfred Goldbeck, Lauren Beukes, Deon Meyer, Ryan Sandes, Ray Wicksell, Miss World 2009, Dominique Mann, Barry and June Steenkamp, Hanneke Dannhauser and Cameron van der Burgh. Nick in turn has been the subject of several interviews including PEOPLE magazine, Noseweek, news.com.au, Yahoo News, Piet Byleveldt/JacarandaFM, OFM radio, RSG Radio, the SABC, BlogtalkRadio, the Dark and Stormy Book Club podcast, the Mollett brothers and with Beth Karas. Besides writing and photography Nick is a passionate sportsman. In another life he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, rafted the Zambezi and completed the Ironman. In 2016 he completed his seventh Half Ironman, and climbed Mont Aux Sources a few days later. Follow the author @HiRezLife More information at www.crimerocket.com and www.shakedowntitle.com
