Dr. Nicole Cozean (PT, DPT, WCS, CSCS) is a leading expert on pelvic pain conditions, including interstitial cystitis. One of fewer than 300 board-certified physical therapists in the pelvic floor, Nicole is the first PT to be elected to the Interstitial Cystitis Association Board. Her clinic, PelvicSanity, is located in Southern California and has successfully guided hundreds of patients through their healing journeys. The PelvicSanity blog, online courses, and books were developed to help patients beyond the walls of her own clinic. Her passion for helping others was forged when, as a junior high school athlete, she tore her ACL. At the time, she was one of the youngest patients to undergo reconstructive surgery, and worked closely with a physical therapist for over a year as she recovered, inspiring her to provide the same services to others. She went to college at UCSD, graduating with a degree in physiology and neuroscience, before moving on to Chapman University for her doctorate in physical therapy. Professionally, Nicole founded and ran the pelvic physical therapy program at the prestigious Hoag Hospital and served as Clinical Director at a private clinic prior to founding PelvicSanity. Nicole is also the Medical Chair of the East Africa Partnership, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of the people of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. In this capacity she has led multiple medical mission trips to these countries and facilitated the donation of more than $10 million in medical equipment to hospitals and clinics there. Among other awards and honors, Nicole was named the 2012 Chapman University Alumnae of the Year, and is a sought-after lecturer and speaker in the field. Nicole is also officiates women's college basketball.
