I currently work for King’s College London on their ‘Radical Translations’ project. I recently completed a PhD at QMUL on the formation of the French Revolutionary journalist-politician, Jean-Paul Marat, looking in particular at his links with England. Before that, I graduated in Social and Visual Anthropology from Manchester, with a film on the value of arts therapy in mental health. I also studied for a year at Paris VIII and worked as a stagiaire for Le Monde diplomatique. I have worked in publishing and digital media as an author, editor, translator and app tester/social media manager for the immersive iPad thriller, The Craftsman. I have written sole-authored books on Fire, Communism and Civil Rights. More recently, I have written on aspects of French history and culture and published an extended review of French Revolution historiography for Oxford Bibliographies in British and Irish Literature. I have provided French-English translation for a variety of clients, ranging from academic and legal to technology and magazines. My translation of the underrated Jean-Paul Sartre play Morts sans sépulture was highly commended by the Gate Theatre. One day I would love to re-subtitle Jean-Luc Godard's 'A Bout de Souffle'. Watch it and you’ll see why… Besides the titles listed here, I have also written on a variety of subjects, ranging from teapots to origami, photography to philosophy, mortuary rites to bare-knuckle fights and Ansel Adams to Jimi Hendrix, for textbooks, handbooks, encyclopedias and coffee-table paperweights. I divide my free time between walking, inventing new cocktails and compiling soundtracks to imaginary films. I used to surf but gave up after falling over too many times.
