Olha (Olya) Tkachenko is a Toronto-based illustrator and book creator. She studied Fine Arts in Ukraine. Since 2008 Olya has worked as a freelance children’s illustrator and created many children's books in the USA, Canada, and UK. As an artist, she works with various media such as watercolors, batiks, digital painting, etc.. Still, she prefers to work with colored pencils and a fantasy-realistic style when creating book illustrations. Since 2010, Olha has created her own books. With the support of the Ukrainian Canadian Foundation of Taras Shevchenko, she retold and created a series of popular Ukrainian folktales in a bilingual (English and Ukrainian) format with modern illustrations. She also published "Little Red Riding Hood", "Pushka. Kitten in War", and other books.
