Olivia Jane Michaels

I am the author of several novels. At the Sign of the Painted Moon, which was published in 2019, is very loosely based on old family stories that I grew up listening to, especially those of my maternal grandmother and great aunt who were members of the spiritualist church in Lancashire during the first half of the twentieth century. In 2020 I began what has since turned into a series of Victorian detective mysteries with The Angel of Clerkenwell. The series currently stands at five published novels with one in progress. While all are based on the adventures of pioneering female detective Evie Bonney and her colleagues, each may also be read as a standalone mystery . Having written short stories and poems since childhood, I studied English Literature at University - specializing in First World War poetry and Jane Austen - but I didn't think seriously about writing a full-length novel until my family flew the nest. I am a passionate reader of classic literature and contemporary literary fiction.
