Pam Penick

Pam Penick is the author of Lawn Gone!, The Water-Saving Garden, and a forthcoming book about Texas gardens (Timber Press, Fall 2025). She's been sharing garden inspiration, how-to, and plant info at her blog Digging since she first put her foot on a shovel. When she's not writing about gardens, she's photographing them, traveling from coast to coast and beyond to seek out beautiful and interesting gardens, parks, and wild places. Her work has appeared in Better Homes and Gardens, The American Gardener, and many other publications. A graduate of Rice University, with a master's from North Carolina State University, Pam lives in Austin, Texas, where she tends a rather spiky garden of native and other Texas-tough plants under a canopy of live oaks.
