Pat Kane

Consideration of Tragedies is my first book. I was born in East Wall, Dublin in 1954. My family moved to Hackney, London when I was 3-years-old. Not finishing his education, the Kane family returned to Ireland at the end of 1969. In Dublin 1970, frustrated with missing life in Clapton, I began a painting and decorating apprenticeship in June of that year. I met my future wife Margaret that same year and we married in 1975. We gave their four children a good education and family values. I admit the lack of general education, missing out on a better career path. I entered an adult education course in my workplace, Dublin City Council. When retiring at 60, I took up a creative writing course and progressed to Maynooth University earning a BA degree in geography and history in 2018. During my renewed interest in education, I began to write short stories. Then progressed to composing a historical novel. This has grown into a saga that still waits to be completed. I subscribed to Scribophile, an online writing site for beginners. Placing my historical novel up for critiquing, I took a break from my favourite genre and delved into crime writing. Remembering my Clapton upbringing and love of Arsenal FC, I drew on memories of a working-class area and researched to compose Consideration of Tragedies. So, from a simple background, bounced between Dublin and London working class areas, this is my first book.
