Patty enjoys developing endearing characters faced with baffling situations. In her fictional books The Eagle’s Nest and Ida’s Trunk, the plots tease out qualities of bravery and grit while demonstrating the strength of personal faith. She firmly believes writing about virtues is not “old-fashioned.” The Trouble With Elmer, published in 2024, is her first adventure in writing children’s literature. Growing up in Utah, Patty now claims the Dakotas as home. She often finds inspiration for her stories by walking the same fertile farmlands of the Red River Valley that provided her great-grandparents’ livelihood.
