As a retired substitute librarian for two small-town branches, Patricia Penrose knows her way around the book stacks. Following the adage “write what you know,” having a librarian as a main character was almost a given when she began to write at age sixty. Patricia considers herself a “Pollyanna,” an optimist, and it shines through her prose. Her goal as a writer is to create heartwarming, character-driven fiction without blatant sentimentality.
