Patricia Schaefer Röder is an award-winning writer and literary translator. She was born in Venezuela, lived in Germany and the USA, and since 2004, she lives in Puerto Rico. Her repertoire of literary translations include the novels ‘The World Unseen’ ('El mundo oculto') by Shamim Sarif, published by Scriba NYC Editions in 2016; ‘The Reddening Path’ ('Por la ruta escarlata', winner at the ILBA 2020) by Amanda Hale, published in 2019 by Scriba NYC Editions; and ‘My Sweet Curiosity’ ('Mi dulce curiosidad', winner at the ILBA 2019) by Amanda Hale, published by Scriba NYC Editions in 2017. Schaefer Röder’s writings have also garnered national and international awards, like the First Prize in narrative in the 20th Literary Contest of the Peruvian Culture Institute in Miami, USA for her story “Ignacio”. Her stories and poems have also appeared in many anthologies. Her book ‘Yara y otras historias’, ('Yara and other stories') was published in 2010 by Scriba NYC Editions and 'Under the Mango Tree' ('A la sombra del mango', winner at the ILBA 2020), published by Scriba NYC Editions in 2019. She is the creator of the narrative forma "tausiglama" and the poetry form "siglem 575". In 2014, Scriba NYC Editions published her poetry book titled ‘Siglema 575: poesía minimalista’ ('Siglem 575: Minimalist poetry') and since 2015, she organizes and conducts with great success the International Contest of Siglem 575 “Di lo que quieres decir,” ("Say what you mean") which publishes an anthology of the best poems from the contest and which won at the ILBA 2019. She is co-author and editor of 'Libre: voces venezolanas por la libertad de expresión' (ILBA 2022 honorary mention), 'Vivas las queremos' (ILBA 2024 First Prize), and 'Crisol de almas', poetry anthologies that deal with human rights. Patricia Schaefer Röder is a member of the Puerto Rican chapter of Pen Club International, the International Association of Hispanic Writers and Poets, and the International Society of Latino Authors.
