Patrick Corcoran was born in the U.K. in Cardiff, Wales (where he grew up). He attended De La Salle Preparatory School, St. Illtyds Catholic Grammar School, and, at seventeen years of age, Atlantic College (the first of the international United World Colleges), living for two years in St. Donat's Castle, Llantwit Major (1965-1967). 'Last Light Breaking' (a novel) was published in 1998; 'Cecil & Noreen' (a novel) in 2006; 'The Flame' (a novel) and 'From Lilstock To Sennen Cove' (a short story) in July 2021. The three novels tell of the lives of three generations of the Connolly family throughout the twentieth century, following Pop Connolly's decision (in 'Last Light Breaking') to leave his native Ireland to join the British Army in the First World War. After leaving school Patrick studied law but did not complete his legal studies and got a job with IBM (UK) Ltd before qualifying as a Social Worker at Bristol University in his late twenties. He worked in the Probation Service in Wales for many years and for the Children & Family Court Service in Pontypridd until his retirement. He enjoys walking in local woodland with his wife and sea swimming.
