Hello everyone. Just a little background for you. Born in a small town in a 2 bedroom home with 4 other siblings. We were below middle class. Graduated in 1975 and soon after had my first child at the age of 18. Was lucky enough to be able to go to college to get a degree as a Medical Assistant in the year 1979, followed by working several years in physician offices. Second marriage in that same year followed by two more children, one in 1986 with the third in 1988. In 1994 I started a new job as an inpatient medical coder and was so happy for have found my niche. From that position, I moved to other hospitals along with the opportunity to teach in the evenings at a local Vocational Education Center. Teaching Basic A&P, Medical Terminology, Medical Transcription, Medical Office Procedures, Medical Billing, ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT coding at that Votech School then taught Medical Coding at a local Community College along with working full time as a medical coder. Since Disease processes always seemed to be an issue with new coders, I've decided to write a book on the Basic disease processes to match the ICD-10-CM coding process. This book was written to condense long and sometimes confusing information on the disease process to make it easier for the medical coders to reference. I hope all enjoy the ease of use and condensed format in this very informational book. Thank you, and may God bless you in your careers as he has blessed me, Patti A. Fayash-Gunton
