Peter Coe Verbica

关于作者

"Peter Coe Verbica might be the “Clark Kent” of poets – a mild-mannered corporate player with a heart sheathed in steel. (Not a bad combination for someone who slices life into razor sharp bits and helps us see it through his eyes.) His work can be grim, stark and tender; compassion rules the darkest scenes. Rich metaphors are beyond reproach, broadening our understanding. The “Stain,” a great opening piece – like a knife piercing fruit. “The Little Island” and “A Visit with Quentin,” both measured perfection. Often, the reader has no idea where Peter is taking us – but it’s always some place from where there’s no turning back. His diverting of themes is a favored trick, one you will begin to look forward to. Certain works like “Weeds and Cathedrals” suggest a Leonard Cohen-like voice, somber but hopeful. Peter’s sensitivity to this medium, to his craft and to life, in fact, is absolute. We can only ask he keep it coming." ~Corinne Joy Brown Winner, International Latino Literacy Award, Historical Fiction Winner, Arizona/New Mexico Book Award, Historical Fiction Former Staff Writer Working Ranch, Persimmon Hill magazines Contributor, Cowboys n' Indians, Western Art & Architecture, Colorado Expression "Whether a poem of praise, confusion, or disappointment, the overall impression I get from Peter Verbica's acute observations of the world is a sense of poignance and of wonder." ~Ron Hansen, Author of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford "As someone who grew up with many of the same cattlemen and riders over the years it's a pleasure to see Peter Coe Verbica bring his Hard-Won Cowboy Wisdom to a wider audience. ~Chris Lybbert Pro-Rodeo Hall-of-Famer Lybbert Ranch Forestberg, TX Peter Coe Verbica grew up on a commercial cattle ranch and lives in the redwoods of Northern California.
