As a former New Scotland Yard Detective, I have over thirty years of experience, including a lengthy secondment to British Intelligence. Defuse Global was founded in 2019. I spent most of my career as a detective employed in specialist and serious crime investigations, including child abuse, domestic violence, organised crime, homicide, intelligence and counter-terrorism. In 2016, following the assassination of Jo Cox MP, I was asked to create and run the team in the UK’s House of Parliament to investigate threats, abuse, and intimidation and protect our national politicians, taking responsibility for the UK’s protective security programme for all UK Politicians. I was personally trained by Dr Robert A. Fein, PhD, ABP, a Forensic and National Security Psychologist who is the co-author of Preventing Assassination: US Secret Service Exceptional Case Study Project and considered the originator of behavioural threat assessment. Using the methodology taught by Dr Robert Fein, I identified and then helped prevent a terrorist attack against a Member of Parliament. As a former Counter Terrorism Security Co-ordinator (CT SecCo), I was responsible for the protective security plans of large-scale or significant policing operations and events involving the Royal Family, military and Government. In 2024, I authored ‘Personal Threat Management—The Practitioner’s Guide to Keeping Clients Safer,’ which is due to be published in February 2025. I speak regularly at global business and security industry events. I have an MSc in Security Management and am a Chartered Security Professional.
