Piano Hive

Piano Hive is the collaborative project of composers Janette Mason and James Alexander Thompson. Piano Hive is all about creating piano music that not only sounds great but is infinitely enjoyable to play. We have taken the upmost care whilst composing to make sure the pieces fit under the fingers well, explore various pianist techniques and take in a variety of key and time signatures. About the composers Janette Mason Janette is a jazz pianist, composer, arranger and producer with a diverse musical career. She has toured extensively with artists such as Oasis, Pulp and Robert Wyatt and has been musical director for various TV shows. She is a sought-after arranger and producer and has contributed tracks to many recordings including the soundtrack CD to Cars 3 and Lea DeLaria’s ‘The Live Smoke Sessions’, which reached the Grammy Ballot. She is currently keyboard player for Tony Visconti’s Best Of Bowie project and about to release her fourth jazz album - ReWired. James Alexander Thompson James, a classically trained pianist from an early age, went on to study jazz at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music before attaining a BA Hons in Pop Music from Leeds Conservatoire and winning the Friends Prize Award for his penultimate piano recital. He has been involved in many aspects of the music business since then from live performing and session work for TV ads to composing and educating. His music has been played on programs such as Coronation Street, Home & Away, Love is Blind and Life in Colour with David Attenborough. Most recently he was nominated for the 2023 Music Production Award for his track ‘Love At First Sight’
