To protect her against retaliations from the drug traffickers, whose illegal activities she denounces in these very pages, Prisca's true identity remains unknown. Probably born in the early 1970s in a village on the mountains of eastern Michoacán, she, along with her friend Paloma, became an activist engaged in the safeguard of Monarch butterflies in Mexico. Following recent clashes with drug traffickers who want to take over her native land, she has gone into hiding. It is unknown whether she is still alive. This book is the poignant testimony of her pledge to preserve Monarch butterflies, her community, her mountain.
