Radhika Behl was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, a city in the northeast of England. Born to Indian parents but having grown up in Newcastle, surrounded by a tightly knit Indian family and community, Radhika’s cultural influence is a happy blend of both the East and the West. She spent much of her childhood in the kitchen with her sister learning how to prepare traditional Punjabi recipes from her grandmother, aunts, and mother. She was regularly chopping, observing, and being taught how to one day cook traditional Indian recipes in her own household. For Radhika, cooking is a way of staying connected to her roots in India. In 2000, she and her husband relocated from their home in London to Atlanta, Georgia, where their family grew to include two beautiful children. Her appreciation for food and its ability to hold and share culture inspired her to maintain the same cooking traditions with her own children that she experienced so that they may also remain connected to their Indian heritage. Upon moving to Atlanta, Radhika began offering private cooking classes to educate others about the ease with which they could add cultural flair to their dinner repertoire with North Indian cuisine. Inspired to reach more homes and families, Radhika compiled her favorite recipes into Simply Radhika… Radhika Behl currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband Sanjay, their daughter India, and their son Kargil. Although she is first and foremost a stay-at-home mom, she is also a part-time pre-k teacher. The release of this, her first cookbook, is her first of many steps in pursuing her future culinary goals.
