Rahim Thawer, MSW RSW works as an instructor, psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, consultant, public speaker, podcast host, and writer. He calls Toronto home and currently teaches at The University of Alabama, where he is also a student in the Doctor of Social Work program. His clinical work, facilitation and writing explore the intersection of mental health and systemic oppression. He has a particular interest in examining innovation in queer relationships and exploring what anti-racist, queer-affirming psychoanalytic frameworks can look like and how they can support training therapists and organizational leaders. Rahim received the 2024 Distinguished Social Worker Award from the Ontario Association of Social Workers and is a Fellow at the Mark S Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at the University of Toronto.
