Hello everyone, this is Rahul here. Baking is my hobby, but I am a researcher in The University of Sheffield 's Nuclear AMRC working with Lasers, metrology, and inspection. I am also a big supporter of STEM and baking is an excellent way to explain science to school students. In the same way, a bit of science helps a deeper understanding of baking, which helped me to improve my skills. This book has little science perspective in places to make you a better baker as well. I made my first cake in 2016 and if you had asked me then whether I would ever write my own baking book, I would have laughed. So how did cake become such a feature in my life? This book gives a little sneak peek of my baking life: how it started, learnt, and improved over a short period of time that I ended up in The Great British Bake Off 2018. It is all about cakes, more precisely about how to transform your everyday cakes to a showstopping masterpiece. It has some of my favourite cake, frosting and filling recipes along with tips and tricks of how to troubleshoot if in a sticky situation with cakes. Also, I tried to explain in my way some of the popular cake decorating techniques: fault-line, geode, piñata cakes with cakes with chocolate shards, and flowers using every possible sweet edible medium. Hope you will enjoy it.
