Randall Kaplan is a serial entrepreneur, venture capitalist, beachlover, podcaster, philanthropist, and photographer. He is the founder and CEO of Sandee, a company that has cataloged 94 categories of information for every beach in the world – more than 50,000 beaches in 212 countries. He’s a co-founder of Akamai Technologies, a technology company that has 8,000 employees around the world and serves a quarter of the world’s web traffic; a co-founder and Co-CEO of Thrive Properties, a real estate development and management firm; the CEO of River City Restoration, a company that makes old cars spectacularly beautiful; and the CEO of CollarCard, a fast-growing promotional products company that sells patented men’s collar stays. Randall is also the host of the podcast In Search of Excellence whose goal is to inspire and motivate people to achieve their goals and live up to their highest potential. Randall has served on many boards, has been an advisor to more than 50 companies, is a frequent lecturer at business schools around the country, and has mentored several hundred students, executives, and professional athletes. Randall is an entrepreneurial philanthropist – he created a foster care scholarship and endowed a merit-based full-tuition scholarship at the University of Michigan for students with an interest in business, and he is also the founder of The Justice Ball and co-founder of The Imagine Ball charity events in Los Angeles. Through his work on Sandee, Randall is one of the world’s foremost beach experts and has earned the nickname Mr. Beach. He lives by the motto “Anything Is Possible” and resides in Los Angeles with his wife, five children, and his mischievous dog Karma.
