Dr Raywat Deonandan is an Epidemiologist and Professor with the University of Ottawa. He is a former Chief Scientist with the Canadian federal government, and the recipient of several national and international writing awards, including the national book award of the nation of Guyana ("the Guyana Prize"), for his 1999 book, "Sweet Like Saltwater." Dr Deonandan has well over 200 publications in multiple languages. In addition to being an accomplished writer of literary fiction, Deonandan is a globally recognized expert in global health epidemiology, postsecondary teaching, and public health communication. Currently, he holds a Research Chair in University Teaching.
