René Stauffer was born 1959 in Switzerland, lives in the canton Thurgau and is a well-known sports and Tennis writer for different daily newspapers like Tages-Anzeiger and SonntagsZeitung. He started covering the World Tennis Tour in 1981 and reported from all over the world from over 90 Grand-Slam-Tournaments and many other events, like six Olympic Summer Games or the Ryder Cup. He is married and has one daughter. Stauffer published two books about Roger Federer, whose career he has followed as long and as closely as noone else since 1996. The first biography was published 2006 and translated in more than ten languages. Original title: "Das Tennisgenie". English: Quest for Perfection. The new biography "Roger Federer" was published in April 2019 (Piper-Verlag, München) in German and was leading the charts in Switzerland for several weeks.
