Renee Allen, LSW, MSOTR/L, IMH-E® (she/her/hers) has been a practicing pediatric occupational therapist for 25 years. She specializes in working with young children, their caregivers and teachers to understand, manage, and celebrate sensory processing differences. She carries Sensory Processing and Integration Certifications from Sensory Integration International and The STAR Institute. She is also expert level DIR certified through the International Council on Development and Learning. As a licensed social worker and occupational therapist, she has a passion for helping families, teachers and therapists facilitate the brain-body connection and to understand the role of sensory processing on the development of mental health. Through these books, she would like to help new biopsychological research in interoception, regulation and co-regulation to be accessible to all people working with young children. She hopes that families will not only read her books with their children, but will learn how to understand and talk about how their own bodies relate to their emotions.
