RICHARD ASHLEY HAMILTON is an award-winning Cuban-American (no, really) author and screenwriter best known for his storytelling across many DreamWorks Animation franchises including How To Train Your Dragon and Guillermo Del Toro’s Tales of Arcadia. He wrote on the first season of Netflix’s Dragons: Race to the Edge, which earned an Emmy for Best Writing, consulted on the Oscar-nominated How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, and has developed IP for NBCUniversal, Skybound Entertainment, Facebook, Walmart, IKEA, Great Wolf Lodge, and Lionel Trains. Apart from his work in animation, Richard has authored numerous Trollhunters and 3Below middle-grade novels for Simon & Schuster. His writing also appears beyond publishing, most notably in How To Train Your Dragon: Hidden World Tour (winner of the 2020 Lumiere Award for Best Entertainment VR; nominee for the PGA Innovation Award) as well as in the DreamWorks Dragons: Flight Academy VR Experience, one AAA console video game, and the Kirkus-starred DreamWorks Press: Dragons digital storybook. But in his heart, Richard remains a lifelong comic book fan and has written titles for Dark Horse Comics, Aftershock Comics/Seismic Press, DC Entertainment, Insight Editions, Papercutz, and more. Richard currently writes two original middle-grade graphic novel titles, SCOOP and FEARBOOK CLUB, and lives in Los Angeles with his wife, their two sons, and a Husky named Lulu.
